What our students say

Students come from all around the world to study at Select English language school.
Last year we had students from 58 different countries studying with us.

Haruka-Homma

Haruka Homma, Japan

The Director has helped me to find the right class so that I can improve what I need the most: my speaking and listening. This is difficult for people from Japan so it is important for me to improve these skills.

Jung-Hoon-Shin

Jung Hoon Shin, Republic of Korea

My classmates are very nice. Everyone is from a different country. There aren’t too many people in the group, which gives me more opportunities to speak and practise.

Greta-Breddemann

Greta Breddemann, Italy

I like Select English because it is really welcoming and the social staff and teachers are great. Heather took us out for dinner the other day which I really enjoyed.

Tonight marks Burns Night, Scotland’s annual celebration of their greatest native poet, Robert (Rabbie) Burns. Burns was a poor young poet of the 18th century whose writings are still cherished to this day, including ‘Auld Lang Syne,’ which is traditionally sung on New Year’s Eve in the UK.

Today, Scots celebrate the life of Robert Burns with an annual supper, when they eat haggis, drink whiskey and recite his poetry.

Have you seen the bizarre golden clock topped with a giant grasshopper on King’s Parade? It’s called The Corpus Clock, and it belongs to Corpus Christi College of Cambridge University. The clock face is made from pure gold, and the creature on top is called the ‘Chronophage,’ which means ‘time-eater.’ See MoreSee Less
