What our students say
Students come from all around the world to study at Select English language school.
Last year we had students from 58 different countries studying with us.
Haruka Homma, Japan
The Director has helped me to find the right class so that I can improve what I need the most: my speaking and listening. This is difficult for people from Japan so it is important for me to improve these skills.
Jung Hoon Shin, Republic of Korea
My classmates are very nice. Everyone is from a different country. There aren’t too many people in the group, which gives me more opportunities to speak and practise.
Greta Breddemann, Italy
I like Select English because it is really welcoming and the social staff and teachers are great. Heather took us out for dinner the other day which I really enjoyed.

It’s a beautiful day today 🌸☀️🏡 Come and experience springtime in Cambridge for yourself with Select English! Join one of our General English courses and stay in local homestay accommodation. You can also prepare for your IELTS exam with us. Courses start every Monday.
Our wonderful Assistant Director of Studies Jo has prepared a number of IELTS tips for our students and followers.
1.Listen to your teachers! All our teachers are experienced in helping students prepare for their IELTS exam, so they can give you useful advice which is personalised for your specific needs. We are happy to help.
2.Be realistic about how long it will take to get the IELTS score you need. The average person takes around 200 hours of lessons to reach the next level. We have 5 class levels at Select. A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1. The time it takes to improve your IELTS score depends on a number of factors, for example, the number of hours you study, your initial English level, your age, your first language, how much you use English outside of the classroom and if you have taken the IELTS exam before and are familiar with the format.
